Caesars

I promised Ami I would put up the Vegas pictures like 8 months ago. Now is as good a time as any right?

Ild

I’ve been having an odd week.

My juju is all over the place.

Here, this is what happens when I have to choose a photograph and then edit it.

Who knows what I’ll have for you tomorrow?

Or IF?

Photography

Vintage

I had a lot of fun yesterday editing all these photos for a display I plan on making in the future.  The flowers were in a bush off Canton St. in Roswell.

Photography, Review

Zest

It’s been ages since I last wrote a review! Now that I have my camera with my 24/7 I have more of an opportunity to photograph my eats.  Last Sunday J & I found ourselves in historic Roswell meandering through antique shops and little restaurants. We stopped in at Zest, a trendy little sushi and tapas place in the middle of it all.

I ordered plum wine, a favorite of my mum’s actually.

Wine in a glass is one of the most beautiful things to photograph, in my opinion.  I love how my fingerprint  is super-obvious on the glass.  Oops. It makes the picture more personal right? :]

The truth is this wine was pretty fantastic.  It’s very sweet and a pretty good addition to the tapas we ordered.

The first was a “Chinese Tootsie Roll” which was very think flaky shell around cream cheese and salmon, served with a sweet and spicy sauce. I couldn’t help but focus on the sauce it was soo good.

The insides… delish! Soft, creamy and salmony. Smoked salmon is amazing pretty much always.

The other small plate we ordered was the pork dumplings in sauce.  It was a strange fusion of  an eastern dish with a very american sauce. Think steamed pork gyoza covered in a mushroom gravy.  I can honestly say I was a bit skeptical.

Except… it was delicious.

I am almost never disappointed with my meal at Zest and they certainly kept their standards up! I loved this dish too. The pork was soft and the pasta-y shell was easily eaten with just one fork.

So.. if you’re ever in old Roswell, drop by Zest. The service is fast and the owner is in the restaurant and will recommend some of the best dishes.  And if you’re so kind, drop me a line and invite me to go along because I love it!

Life

Normalcy

It’s switching between hard gangsta rap and fruity korean pop music at work all day.
It’s wishing I knew how to lose weight faster and then being angry I’m not faster at running.
It’s outlining my improvement by using statistics instead and telling myself to quit comparing to everyone as a measure of success. It’s trying harder anyway.

It’s eating a quarter pound of bacon and not feeling a shred of guilt.

And watching Star Trek with my head on a warm, t-shirt wrapped chest.

It’s missing my friends that are transient in my life, because of theirs.

It’s embracing the hourglass.
It’s being a social moth.  It’s the pull of  dark places with dim lights and going out only at night.

Its watching a tired cat shake off the night before on your sweatshirt and NatGeo collection.

It’s playing the entire album UNDER THE IRON SEA by Kean and finding myself awash in an intense nostalgia I can’t shake off.
It’s living every moment of singlehood with more purpose knowing it’s about to end. It’s feeling each day as a single grain in the ridges of my fingers.

It’s mentally smashing the hourglass against a glass wall.
It’s staring at my face in the vibrating facade of disguised plastic.

It’s life. One hour, one minute, one second and one solid piercing moment at a time.

Gabi

I can’t believe little Gabi is a year and a half old already. It feels like my friend Joanna just had her!

Distant Lights

After last fall, I’m not entirely sure which of the transition seasons is my favorite.  I think that Spring wins only because it is a herald for summer.  Winter is my least favorite season, though this winter has been surprisingly kind. I have been able to run outside even though it’s the middle of February, usually one of Georgia’s coldest months.

I just love color.

Desaturate

I’ve thought of printing a few of my mobile photos for a wall display in my bedroom for a few weeks.  Here are the images that made the cut. I wanted them to have the warm black and white look of Ilford film. Thankfully the MagicHour has a preset that you can edit to your liking and I got to editing.  These are all from the last two months and feature pieces of Atlanta.

Runners

Shoes.

Lets get some Shoes.

I got these new runners last weekend and I love them. They’re trail runners so they’ve got a little extra cushion and a lot of grip when I’m running uphill. They also look like shoes Venom would buy.  Speaking of Spiderman, it seems the new spiderman is half-black and half-latino.

Good. I am so ready for some more manly spidermans in the future movies.  Sorry peeps. I am sooo over sob story Peter Parker.
And if they make the next Spiderman a Mario Lopez crybaby, I am so out of that series.

Okay, I’ll quit hatin’ on Spiderman.

Back to my shoes.

I’m going to outrun some zombies with these babies on.

If you want to see some crazy running shoes, you’ve got to check out the pair Jeremy picked up for our upcoming races. Now those are pretty wild. The zombies won’t be paying any attention to me with those pounding the ground in close proximity.

I’m excited.
