A view I enjoyed of the rooftops over Paris.
So, Jeremy and I have been busy this year – and we have another thing to add to our list: We’ve moved! We found what we felt was the perfect house for us this July and we moved in September… and then immediately went to France. Suffice to say for now that I am in love with this house as I was the day I stepped into it for the first time 3 months ago… and I’ll have much more to share about it soon. As I look forward to this week – and a trip to Boston to see some clients – I thought about how little I write anything down anymore. Partially this is the fault of trying to blog like early-twenties me: someone with a lot of time, a lot to say, and eight million photos processed each week to share. I am just not in that place any longer so I am going to share what I can, when I can. I’m such a go big or go home kind of person for certain things in my life that it’s been hard to stop wanting to go big when I write … but the truth is that now the result is that I don’t go at all! So here’s to hopefully some more frequent posting, with more concentrated content future me ( and hopefully today you ) will enjoy.
So I’ll start with a simple photo of the drop dead gorgeous Eiffel tower the last night of our trip to Paris. Can’t believe this was just one week ago!
Jeremy and I stayed home today in hopes of seeing the eclipse passing over our town. We set up shop right outside on our driveway around 2pm and watched the moon cover and uncover the sun. It was a an amazing experience.  Jeremy found an unused space blanket – which is pretty close to what eclipse glasses are – and we tied it around my lens and pointed it at the sun. I got some spectacular shots that I am so happy with.
The moon begins to inch over the sun.
The clouds cleared for a nice shot of the eclipse + a few sunspots!
The clouds rolled in and out but thankfully there were more thin than thick clouds.
This was my favorite cloud cover photo.
This teeny sliver was as close to totality as we were going to get from our own neighborhood.
This photo took my breath away when I loaded it off my camera. It was so surreal.
When 2024 rolls around, I hope we are able to go see the eclipse again! It was truly a spellbinding experience.
On my playlist this morning – a fairly popular song. It’s got an excellent vibe. We are under a flood of activity here in our home, our careers, and our lives in general. This song espouses a moment of peace and reconciliation.
After many hours of travel, we are finally here in Bern, Switzerland! We are -pooped- so we’re heading to bed. I just wanted to say:
1. Swiss trains are awesome.
2. Swiss people are much nicer than online travel blogs make them out to be.
3. The only other indian I saw here was driving a taxi. Go figure (Not that I can talk, a software engineer).
4. The views are spectacular from everywhere!!!
How spectacular? This photo was taken on the train traveling quite fast during a rainy end of daylight hours.
Yeah, this is the shitty view through double paned glass with reflections from the interior lights and it was STILL AMAZING.
It’s raining here in Bern, and it’s supposed to rain again tomorrow but I’ve already fallen in love with this capital after riding a taxi through a teeny portion of it. Tomorrow – I am going to take photos of all the things!
Good night!
Back in March, Jeremy and I spent part of our trip to Florida visiting Siesta Key. He had some sweet memories from his childhood – visiting the beach and getting ice cream at ‘The Big Olaf’- a creamery inland. The beach was especially kind to us. There were small schools of fish along the shore, and the tide had gone out – giving us close access to all the seabirds hunting the beach.
Jeremy and I are on the cusp of our next international destination : Switzerland!! As exciting as that has been to plan – I haven’t even written about the last time we went to a different country! My cousin got married last August in Scotland and we just had to go! We found the sweetest little cottage on a cliff and made our base of operations in Scotland in the little town of Queensferry.
