Gray and Change

I am still working on the set of images from my shoot with JoAnn a few weeks ago. It’s been an arduous, but very rewarding process. I’m honing and refining my skill at editorial type photography through this because JoAnn was nice enough to lend me all her time as well as plan out a beautiful itinerary for that day. I saw so many wonderful places and she was a super willing model.

This photo is easily one of my favorites partly because it is just so natural. The light leak effect was done with some leaves in the foreground and the little bokeh bits in the air are actually floating seed fluff from nearby plants. The magical look didn’t require any Photoshop and I’m really trying to understand my personal style as I develop it.

I’ve read article after article from photographers, artists, and business people about solidifying your style and I’ll admit it’s one of my greatest struggles. I want to just buy a pile of actions from some other artist and just tweak my photos. That’s easy. It works. I can even be considered smart, efficient business.  But if my personal history has taught me anything, I need to find a way to do things myself and understand my color, depth and composition choices. I can’t just do it because it “looks good”. I want to know why it looks good to me.  I am looking into picking up some books, particularly On Photography, to help me understand the photograph, both as a product of my mind as well as a product of my surroundings and a force of it’s own.

Hey it’s Memorial day weekend! Hope everyone’s gonna have some fun! I know I am! :)

Bad Sunira

I am a bad girl. A bad bad girl.

I’ve ignored this poor blog for weeks. What kind of person am I?

A person eyeballs deep in EPIC ACTIVITIES.

Epic activities involving tons of fun things, amazing and wonderful people and friends, and adventures, and things like getting paid to have super fun. I don’t know guys, it’s like life is one giant confusingly wonderful acid trip I never want to come off of. Anyway, I only have one photo to show you today. Just one? Unheard of. Unsatisfactory!

It’ll have to do until I can sit my arse down for about 124iuque45u428p9 hours to go through 400 gigs of adventure.

SOON!

Is this trippy enough for you? Huh? Huh?

Park

Last year I felt like I missed every season, every detail of so many beautiful things around me. This year I’m sort of trying to make up for it. I see so many details, and enjoy them all.  I am so wholly attracted to the simpler things in life and they’ve certainly never let me down! I may post bits of this park over and over, but something beautiful is always happening there that I just have to share.

Guys?

My little Manfred. He’s a very reasonable cat and I sure love him when I get to visit him at my parents home.

Evening Walk

One of my favorite outdoor hangouts is McDaniel Farm Park. Featured plenty of times on this blog, this place is really magical. I don’t know of any other place that retains its beauty through all junctures in weather and amidst every season. Spring has barely sprung at the park and I couldn’t help but find myself there on a balmy Tuesday.  I captured a few spring spirits already fully adorned in flowery grandeur. If you live in Georgia, now’s the time to get out!

Studying Light in a Car Wash

The prospect of going through a car wash brings me the same level of glee I experienced when I was seven and doing the same thing. It’s almost like you’re transported into a different world for a minute, or into the gaping maw of a slobbery soft-toothed sea creature. The thrashing abstract art of it all just begged to be captured.
