Ever since I moved into the mirrorless space, I’ve been coveting RF lenses. I have acquired the 24-70 and a 50mm, but my kit is still not complete. From my wedding days, I have an idea of what I consider a complete kit which is a range of focal lengths, including wide-angle (10-20mm), standard zoom (24-70mm), a good prime (50mm), telephoto (70-200mm), and super-telephoto (100-500mm) lenses.

I am sorely missing the wide ange and the telephoto lenses. I have had my eyes on the RF100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM and the RF70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM. I’ve been renting the latter when I travel — $150 is a lot more palatable than $2500. But lately, I’ve been missing that range in my day to day exploration of Atlanta + all the wildlife that visits my yard. Chasing hummingbirds, finches, and bluebirds would be nice. I often see migrating visitors like Cedar Waxwings or Red winged blackbirds and don’t have a great lens to grab.

I have the entire range of lenses in EF format. I think maybe it’s time to sell them all, put some $$ on top and get myself these additional lenses. We’ll see! Maybe I will pull the trigger soon!

I took this picture today using the 24-70 at the 70 end and then cropped it heavily in LR. I can’t wait to take closer photos with minimal cropping!
